Notably, Architecture and Engineering Occupations jobs accounted for a 14% share of the global auto industry’s environmental sustainability-related total new job postings in Q2 2023, up 6% over the prior quarter.
Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive environmental sustainability-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 14%, emerged as the top environmental sustainability-related job roles within the auto industry in Q2 2023, with new job postings rising by 6% quarter-on-quarter. Production Occupations came in second with a share of 10% in Q2 2023, with new job postings rising by 50% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent environmental sustainability roles include Management Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2023, Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 7% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in auto industry accounted for 29% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2023 were Tesla, Gestamp Automocion, Caliber Collision Centers, Magna International, and Honda Motor. Together they accounted for a combined share of 29% of all environmental sustainability-related new jobs in the auto industry.
Tesla posted 1,225 environmental sustainability-related new jobs in Q2 2023, Gestamp Automocion 981 jobs, Caliber Collision Centers 628 jobs, Magna International 484 jobs, and Honda Motor 471 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 65.13% share of total new job postings, Q2 2023
The largest share of environmental sustainability-related new job postings in the auto industry in Q2 2023 was in the US with 65.13% followed by India (5.12%) and the UK (4.98%). The share represented by the US was one percentage point lower than the 65.76% share it accounted for in Q1 2023.
